Project # :

Introduction

The United Arab Emirates petroleum reserves are ranked as the world’s seventh largest (97 billion barrels) [1]. Also, the UAE is considered as one of the most developed economies in west Asia. Since discovery of oil in 1960s, the UAE’s economy growths rapidly because the demand of oil and natural gas increases over the world. They play an active role as a source for power generation and petrochemicals industry. As the oil industry expands rapidly, there is a need for more cadres.

Petroleum Industry in the UAE

The United Arab Emirates’ economy is based on oil exporting (more than 85% of the UAE’s economy [2]). In order to maintain the production and to expand of the oil and natural gas industry in the UAE, more employees are required. ADNOC leads several companies like ADCO, GASCO, BOROUGE, ADMA, etc. These companies need lots of engineers to operate their plants.

Chemical Engineering

Chemical engineers are very important to operate the plant because they are responsible for the processing and operating the equipments. BOROUGE and TAKREER will be discussed to show the need for more chemical engineers.

BOROUGE

BOROUGE produces several types of polymers such as polyolefin, Polyethylene, PolyPropane and Low Density Polyethylene Plants. All these polymers can be used to manufacture plastic, film, cables, fibers, etc. The table below shows the current opportunities for chemical engineers in BOROUGE Company [3].

TAKREER

TAKREER produces several products out of the crude oil such as petrol, Diesel, tar, etc. It has several distillation columns to separate the mixture into its component parts depending on the differences in their volatilities. This process needs chemical engineer to operate the distillation column. The company requires more chemical engineers as it is mentioned in their website [4].

Need in other fields

There are enormous expansions in Al-Ruwis for the ADNOC companies such as TAKREER, BOROUGE and GASCO. These companies will need more chemical, electrical and mechanical engineers to achieve their goals. As a consequence of the expansions in ADNOC companies, expansions in other fields are required. The employees will live in Al-Ruwis so they need homes which will be built by civil engineers. The residents of Al-Ruwis will need food so there should be restaurants and supermarkets. In addition, they need hospitals and pharmacists. Indubitably, employees will bring their family and children so there should be schools and teachers. As a result of the needs, there should be businessmen to manage the businesses over there.  In order to keep the safe and security, police station is required. These days, if someone visits Al-Ruwis, he will see how it changed over the last ten years.

Obviously, the development in oil industry will lead to develop in other fields as mentioned before which looks like a chain. Also, this speech emphasize the needs of more cadres “Without a cadre of mathematicians, the industrial companies can’t function. What the country needs is a cadre of young Emirati engineers, scientists and mathematicians who can defend their country” said Kevin Massengill, vice-president of Middle East and North Africa, Raytheon Company [5].

Task #6

Portfolio task #6

Every country these days has a different currency. But maybe there are a few countries who have the same currency. Some people think that making a single global currency is an excellent ideal to work towards. However other people disagree with his statement. I’m going to discuss both statements. There are some advantages and disadvantages about this topic.

First of all, there are some benefits of making a single currency. For example, people who travel outside between countries using the same currency will need to exchange the money. Another advantage is the trade between countries will be much easier. For instance, the business does not need to worry about exchange rates. The traveling between countries will be much easier because you just take your money to use it everywhere. The money will be accepted in all countries.

On the other hand I believe that it would cause problems today. Many people who get a good salary may find it decreasing. Many countries have a good economy.

In conclusion, I think making a single global currency will cause many problems between countries. But the trade and travel will be much easier.

Two figures are shown. The given line graph illustrates information about the number of overseas visitors to Australia between 1975 and 2005, in millions of people. The second is a table that represents the number of visitors to Australia in millions of people. The piece of writing will analyse the important information.

Firstly, according to the line graph there were 5 million more visitors to Australia in 1985 than in 1975. From 1985 to 1995 the number of visitors to Australia by overseas residents increased dramatically from about 15 to 24 respectively. In2005 the number of visitors went up to reach about 30 million people.

Secondly, the table shows the countries who visited Australia. The biggest number of visitors to Australia came from Japan from 1975 to 2005, about 3.2 to 12.0 million of people respectively. Following this country was South Korea, Europe and Britain.

In conclusion, the number of visitors from different countries who went to Australia increased dramatically every year. Japanese people made up the highest percentage of people who went to Australia.

Task #4

Portfolio task #4

Nowadays, people must care about the children because they will be the future for the world. Competition and cooperation are the two words that the children must know to change their lives. Many people think that the children have to be competitive to do more. In this argument, I’m going to discuss both these views.

First of all, competition means the person has to change to become better and better. For example, if the children do not have a sense of competition they will not challenge their minds and will not be creative. Also, competition is very important for everybody because a sense of competition for children will improve them in many things. For example, in playing football the two teams must challenge to win but if there is no competitiveness there will be no point to it.

Secondly, cooperation means children must help each other and share their ideas. For example, in playing football the players must cooperate to win because if each player plays alone be will cause his team to lose. Also, in the class there are intelligent students but also there are some weak students so in this case good students must cooperate with their friends to help them.

In conclusion, in my opinion, I think competition and cooperation will make children challenge and at the same time they have to cooperate to be creative. Both these views will help the development of the children and make their life easy.

A balanced diet is very important to our body. Eating diet food helps us to change our life style. We all know that the there are many kinds of food. Some food is very delicious but not healthy and other not delicious but healthy. Many people think they should eat diet meals to have a healthy life. On the other hand, people think a balanced diet is not so important in their life. In this piece of writing I will give some advantages and disadvantages about a balanced diet.

The first advantage is that eating diet meals will help you to change your lifestyle. For example, the diet meals will help you to wake up early and you can do whatever you like. The second advantage is that a balanced diet is very healthy. Of course you will not be lazy but you will enjoy your job without getting tired.

There are many things that will help you a lot to decrease your weight like. Diet meals and doing exercise and live in a clean environment.

I agree with people who think that eating diet meals is healthy because a balanced diet is the best way to change your life style. It will help your mind to think.

Two figures are shown. The first graph shows that there is a gradual decrease in study for career reasons with age. Nearly 80% of students under 26 years are studying for their career. This percentage gradually decreases. This report will analyze the significant information.
The first graph also shows that study stemming from interest increases with age. There are only 10% of under 26 year old studying out of interest. The percentage increases dramatically from 10% to 70%. Nearly the same number of 40-49 year olds study for career and interest. However 70% of those over 49 year olds study for interest in comparison to 18% studying for career reasons in that age group.
The second bar chart shows that employer support is maximum, approximately 60%, for the under 26 year students. It drops rapidly from 65% to 32% and then it goes up dramatically to about 44%. The highest level is for those students who mainly study for career purposes.

Portfolio task 1

The table represents the amount of money that a small restaurant got in an American business area between October 7th – 13th.
Regarding the table, the overall trend is that the restaurant sales for dinner were higher than for lunch. For example, on Monday the restaurant got about $3,623 for dinner but for lunch it is only $2,400. The next day, the restaurant sales reached $3,850 at dinner time. But at lunch time the restaurant sales were about $2,450. On Friday, the restaurant got the most money $4,350. However, at weekends people didn’t eat a lot and the amount of money reached $2,900 for dinner and $ 1,900 for lunch.
In conclusion, the table shows the restaurant got more money at dinner time than lunch time in the weekdays. For instance, lunch sales were the most on Wednesday.  Also the table illustrates that people on Saturday weren’t interested to eat in this restaurant.
